What are the long term effects & short term effects of smoking? What are the consequences of smoking (either legal or economic)? Can you give me an example in assertive behaviour related to smokin? What are the reasons you smoke or not? What are the effects of other peoples drug use?

I know it's harmful but sometimes I think that people exaggerate smoking effects. My dad has been smoking for 20 years and he doesn't have any health problems. I know lots of people who have been smoking all their lives but never had smoking related illnesses.

Im trying to convince my bf that pipe smoking is bad for you. I realize the tobacco isnt treated like in cigarettes and that your not supposed to inhale like with cigarettes but I know that some smoke has to end up in the lungs and that it has to have some health affects. Anyone have experience with this and have any facts about how the two habits compare? Thanks!!
